A few comments in the Spanish Website, a few private messages and mails, someone that asks me via chat… bring me to want to create an article on.

How to say that you are goth

how to say you are goth

Or more accurate, how to say it withouth dyeing while doing it or at leasta voiding being disinherited.

The problem for many people is not easy, thanks to the publicity we get from communication media Goths are not well seen in most forums, in most cases is enough to say “goth” to your parents for getting some ugly allergy reaction.

Some lucky people don’t have that problem because their parents are comprehensive people or have their minds enough well set to know that their children will be the same no matter if they dress in black or in pink, but when that happens it’s hard to tell your friends or to let those “not that good friends” know about what you want to do with your life.

If that weren’t enough problem, the goth society seems “reticent” to let new blood join it’s community, the reason is that many people is tired of feeling some intrusion of people who dress in black and claims to be Goth, while they only do it because of fashion reasons, because to looks cool or because they want to claim to the seven winds that they are different without feeling it inside their hearts.

Anyway this is a problem that most young Goths face daily and they don’t know how to solve it.

At first I thought to wrote some kind of guide, some advices or “something” so people could base their strategy in my own experience, but then I noticed that my experience might not suit quite well most people situation because I was always allowed to do whatever I wanted and could separate quite well my non-goth friendships from my goth life style.

In other words, I didn’t got quite much outside pressure so my experience wont help people that have such pressure, and if you don’t have that pressure, then you don’t need my advice.

So thinking about it, I thought… why don’t we make this “short of” guide together?

The idea is to ask as many questions as you want, comment you experience, give advices for certain situations, give opinions… whatever as long as it’s intended for helping other to solve this problem.

Feel free to use the comments for this purpose, they wont be published immediately since thanks to spammers I have to approve all posts manually but they will eventually shown here.

:( I have to say that i do have a few questions to ask and i have some things to say. It's this new "culture" that has come out n to me it's kinda insulting. This emo thing that's going on upsets me because think about it if it wasn't for the gothic culture they wouldn't have their little style going on to them it is simply a fashion statement. Some new little way to look "cool" I am gothic, my mom accepts me but by the look in her eyes i can tell that it's not very easy for her to pretend that i am not normal, i just don't understand why people rebel against us! Why can't they just let us be who we are!

:( I think your opinion is right. For me I can't be gothic from outside in front of all the people so I took my decision that I can be gothic from inside. :( but I'm unhappy for that because I want to live as I like and I want to face the world by my rael face so every one can know then what is my real face and who is I'm. I agree with you elizabeth and I think we should have our own world.
