Today I bring to you the first article written by a new collaborator: Armando Valdemar. Thanks a lot for this excellent article and for your help. He writes about a sad real life history… I never eared about it of before.
On 11th august 2007, the English young lady Sophie Lancaster was ingured in a brutal beating at Stubeylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire (Britain) just for being gothic. She died in the hospital on 24th august of the same year.
Her boyfriend Robert was seriously injured in the fight but the true victim was Sophie that was unable to survive to her injuries.
At the time several medias talked about this horrible new about pure xenophobia but it doesn’t seems that we should forget it.
I’ll try to translate what was written about this sad episode in a Spanish newspaper.
Two minors have been found guilty by a British court of the murder of a young lady that was attacked just for being Goth. Both confessed that they were drunk. The two minors now could face a life imprisonment.

As BBC inform 2 minors have been found guilty by a British court of the murder of a young lady of 20 years old that was attacked just for wearing Goth clothes.
The two minor confessed that they were drunk. The both of them attacked Sophie Lancaster the past 11th of august when she tried to defend her boyfriend of a first aggression.
The minors who form part of a band formed by 4 more people confessed that they were drunk and that they attacked Malty just because of his look, just for dressing Goth clothes.
Sophie Lancaster begged them to stop kicking her boyfriend but she was kicked until she was unconscious leaving her in such bad shape that the medical services that attended her in first place where unable to recognize her as being male or female.
Sophie died two weeks after the brutal beating in the hospital while her boyfriend was able to save his life.
A lot of lines about this new were written in internet, while I have several Spanish sources for this I lack of English ones so if someone can add some, please forward them to me or leave them in the comments.

Sincerely is terribly bleak.
There is nothing, NOTHING that justifies killing someone just because of her look.
And that’s of course one of our worlds riddles.
Solutions? Life time in jail. But just that? We can assume that will serve as a punishment but the most terrible thing is that all the murderess where minors.
We lack of education. It´s our huge fail.
To everyone how reads this, being got hot not, you must know that you are not alone, we are not alone, and that the more that we know this the better things wil be.
Martin Niemöller wrote this poem that it’s quite revealing on how things are and why they should change:
“First they came for the immigrant And as I wasn’t one, I didn’t cared. Then they came for the homeless, gypsies, Jewish, Muslim, Homosexuals, punks and anyone different. But as I wasn’t one I didn’t reacted. Finally they came after me, But then there wasn’t anyone to defend me”
No one is alone, no one who reads this and understands this can let anyone to remain alone.
I don’t care if you are Goth, punk, cyber, if you like rap, rock, Metal or any other thing.
No one should be alone. Not only for the protection against this cases but for decency and public spirit.
