It has been some time since I first thought on writing an article about this, I have bee delaying it because I don’t really have a lot of things to say about it but today I decided to write about it anyway because hey… at least we are going to enjoy some cool videos.
And Is ay that I don’t have much to say because I’m not a great dancer nor I have any education or experience to be able to judge anyone or stating all what I’m going to say, so just take it as a personal opinion and if you think that I’m not saying more than stupid things, then scroll down to the videos and enjoy them, no offence.
I suppose that if a professional dancer sees this kind of dancing he would state that this is not a quite technical dance, and I suppose he might be right, in deed Gothic dance in general is something that is created by the emotions that each of us have inside him and in particular gothic industrial dance is just whatever the rhythm of the music makes you to perform.
While performing the dancer tend to be quite static, in other words, this dance tends to be performed without any actual displacement, that’s pretty normal considering that this dance was created in disco dance floors and you know that there isn’t much room in there for moving around.
But anyway this kind of dance is really spectacular especially when it’s well performed and when it’s combined with a good set of complements. Its violent movements make that your hair, chains and leather straps turn into something that is in deed integrated in your dancing creating scenes that you won’t see anywhere else.
Another curious thing of this kind of dance is that with very few exceptions the dancing steeps are basically the same for both male and female performers with equally spectacular results.
I have to say for those that never did it that dancing gothic industrial wearing a gas mask, specially inside a disco is at least a little bit oppressive, the reason is that while performing this kind of dance you are doing quite a physical exercise and when you are dong one of those your body tends to request oxygen, the mask tends to saturate and sooner than later the dancer starts to feel a lack of air than soon turns into asphyxia.
I wonder how this guy looked when removing his gasmask and his corset, I bet that he was really tired:
I leave you with a last video of Eisenfunk, I love the song and couldn’t help it. Enjoy:
