Yesterday it felt in my hands this information and i thought that i had to post it here, today we talk about…

The graveyard Book

the graveyard book Neil gaiman

For those that still haven’t heard about it “The graveyard Book” is the last book written by Neil Gaiman (“the Sandman”, “stardust”…) directed to juvenile people (so if you like gothic movement this is the perfect occasion to starting to pervert your Childs), all the story turns around death mixed with nostalgy, everything seasoned with a bit of terror and fantasy.

The main character starts the story in real bad fashion, all his family dies in the hands of a skilled murderer that chase him until he goes into an old cemetery, there he is adopted by an already death Victorian family and he will meet several local inhabitants like the cemetery guardian, ghosts, lycanthropes or ghouls, strange characters that sometimes will teach some lessons to the young child; from the most mundane ones to some skills more adequate to the non-living like the ability to disappear in the air.

I have to point that this book it aimed to young readers and it teaches some good values to the younger people like the need of coexistence or the need to help others when the situation requires it.

It has been said that this book got his main influences from Rudyard Kipling tale “the jungle book” and so it is, in deed there are plenty of coincidences, starting with the fact that the main character is abandoned to his own luck in a place in which he is a complete stranger.

Finally I have to point out that it seems that we are going to see this book in the big screen, I don’t know much about the project but everything seems to point out that we will have to make a place near “nightmare before Christmas” for when the film get published.
