Yesterday was the day that i would have arrived Spain if it my plane wasn’t the first in departing from Hong-Kong to Europe after Iceland volcano eruption… I was really lucky there… well, anyway today I bring to you an article in which you will be able to meet another Spanish artist, this time we will take a look to the hand made garments world, today we talk about…

Girlie Art (Raquel)

Raquel is a young girl of 28 years old that live in Valencia (Spain) she invest its free time in hand making little pieces of art, her talent combined with the artist that every gothic wears inside creates this stuff, a real spectacle by themselves.

There isn’t many things I can tell you about her, so I think that the best thing that I can do is to leave you with a  translation of this interview:

INTERVIEW
¿Can you tell us your name?

Raquel

¿how old are you?

In 29th April I made 28 (yes, I’m from 82nd generation)

¿Country?

Spain

¿And where do you live?

Spain (more exactly Valencia).

¿When did you started with this hobby?

About 2 years ago I started to create garments, although previously I made some world in glass painting.

Tell us how you started.

I always wanted to create some kind of lesson related with artisan and hand made products, although there are some of them in my city… It was always impossible for me to attend to any of them due to their timetables. So one day I joined a forum called “mundorecetas”, there were plenty of stuff there and they had a section devoted to handmade stuff.

First thing that called my attention was glass painting and decoration so I started to paint trays with stained glass paintings, then I started to create decoupage combined with such paintings.

I slowly started to try new materials, new techniques but since I always liked jewelry I started to read tutorials on how to make pendants and then I wanted to learn on how to create other stuff.

Since I always liked gothic style and Victorian epoch I wanted to give my creations that dark but romantic touch and there was born Girlie Art.

3 artists that inspire you?.

Give only 3 names it’s almost impossible!! There are plenty of illustrators that inspire me: Muriel Dal, Cris Ortega, Javier Trujillo, Esther Sanz (click to meet Esther Sanz), Victoria Frances, Irene Martin, etc...

As artisans I get my inspiration from Silvia Doblas (silvia_him_goth), Art of Adornment and Ladyaranwen.

How many hours do you devote to this hobby?

I can’t usually devote many hours because of my current job, although I try to devote at least one hour daily, I also try to spend my free time during weekends ;)

This is your only job?

I would like! But not yet.

Any other hobbies?

I love photography, reading, stained glass painting and love to collect fairies, travel, listen to music, etc…

Want to share with us anything else about you?

That I’m happily married since 2007 with a lovely man and that I love Goth music and Finland :D.

I’m really happy to have joined flickr, to had open an account there… and being able to meet wonderful people which to share this hobby everyday.
