Yesterday was one of those days in which one notices that his town, from time to time, worth’s it. Thanks to Javier Palacios I discover in the same day a local pub and a gothic bands that impressed me, today we talk about…

Glow

As I was saying, all started when Javi started a series of “invisible concerts” the idea is that you go to the concert without having any idea of who is going to play tonight.

The fact is that we have received rumors that the band that if we went to the concert we would enjoy the band that was going to play that night so we bought our tickets and went to the pub to see how circumstances unfolded.

The local pub (which I didn’t know about) was really cool and I’m going to talk about it in another article probably tomorrow but in the mean time, let’s talk about glow.

The concert started with 3 people rising to the scenario dressed in gothic/punk clothes, that, in my town it’s by itself something different to what we are used to see.

Needless to say that i didn’t knew the band but I’m not sure if it was the local ambient, the fact that I rarely listen to French Goth music or if it was the music quality but whatever it was when the concert ended my girlfriend bought their CD (which I’m currently listening to) and here I am writing about them.

I don’t know much about this group that I first meet yesterday so i will limit myself to try to translate their Bio with my limited knowledge of French language and adding a little bit of creativity.

This band was formed with the influences of Placebo, Nine Inch Nails, Curve, the Cure or Nirvana and nowadays it’s formed by 3 members: Askan (guitar and vocals) Necris (Guitar and vocals) and Niko (Drums), I would qualify their music as something between gothic and punk music but according to their content they talk about a mix of genres where perversion get mixed with sensuality.

Those three young artists were invited in 2009 by Indochine for accompany them during their Meteor Tour and they also took part in the 2007 and 2008 editions of the “Les divisions de la pop” festival sharing scenario with groups like “Dead Sexy Inc”, “Toybloïd”, “Madinkà”, “Lost In rarity” or “Oxygen”.

In 2008 Glow published their first album “Corpus Exquis” (13 songs) which is their first album, It was recorded by Anthony Lecamus (DaisyBox) with the collaboration of Dead Sexy Inc. Sindrome and Oxigen.

That same year they released their first Video clip called “X-tra PoRn” directed by Cedric Apikian, that video has been emitted by MTV in several occasions and it has been viewed lot of times through Internet.

Anyway nor that video of their CDs are a good representation of this band real skills, that’s because this band is one of those that feels comfortable in a scenario and they improve a lot in their lives from what we can ear in their CDs or video clips (which aren’t bad at all).
