Today we are going to talk about a Spanish band, its a relative new band that I’m sure most of you haven’t ear of, today, we are going to talk about…
1) A little bit of history:
Blood appeared in the Spanish national scene in 2001 with their first album “0’08 atm”. Almost at same time, national specialised press was shocked by their “industrial metal” sound.
In 2002 they started their first tour with more than 30 concerts and the opportunity to be the opening band of “Machina 2002” (Moncofa, Castellon) in Vich they shared scenario with bands like Tristania, Tiamat or Duff (for naming a few).
It wasn’t until 2005 that they launched their second album called “Psike”, it included a second CD with a few of their previous songs remixes and a video clip of the song named “conciencia”.
With this new album completed they started their second tour “psike tour”, after that they completed more than 150 concerts.
Not satisfied with that succeed they soon started the recording of their new E.P. “G.E.N.”, this CD include 3 in edit songs as well as several remixes and a new video clip of the song named “orgasmatik”. On 2nd September 2007 Blood started their 3rd tour and in 31st October 2008 (coinciding Halloween) they launched their 4th album called “seppuku” this CD includes 7 new songs as well as 3 remixes.
2) What makes blood special?:
Blood have 2 characteristics that makes it a special band, first its they music style. “industrial metal” is not an usual style in Spain and therefore Blood lacks of clear references to follow, that makes their music quite unique being one of the very few bands (if not the only one) that makes this kind of music with Spanish lyrics. The second reason is that blood is spectacle, not only in their songs and lights (as usual in any concert) but in their setup. Blood gathers whatever complements their fans send them and then use them in one way or another in their concerts, that way its usual to see them wearing gas masks, tunics, special lanterns, solder masks, helmets… thinking about it, those guys must sweat quite a bit in the scenario.
Another strong point of this band is that they know how to make the people enjoy their concerts, they use to create their own “dance steeps” (short of military marches) so people can imitate them and dance all songs, it makes almost impossible to get bored in their concerts.
As curiosity: Lets say that in their beginnings Blood wasn’t focused on gothic people but soon they noticed most of their fans were gothic related so they decided to create a special song just for them called “gotika”.
