Today I want to talk about a hard makeup technique, we will have time for the easy stuff later… We are going to talk about…

Cybergoth Makeup Technique

You’ll find the makeup tutorial a little below but I didn’t wanted to Start that tutorial without talking a little bit about cybergoth tendency.

If you ask an “expert” (I don’t consider myself an expert) he will say that cybergoth is a “subculture” inside the gothic movement, I have to say that I don’t like the term “subculture at all”, what’s exactly a “subculture”?, either its culture or its not but calling anything “subculture” sounds to me like a derogative term for naming a culture not accepted by the majority.

That’s why I’m going to say that cybergoth is an extension of gothic movement, in my opinion its more probable origin is some people that liked goth and electronic music… creativity did the rest.

Anyway what seems clear is that cybergoth is influenced by sci-fi, with clear references to decadent future societies… a dark future.

Cybergoth style has some similitudes with gothic style, high platform boots, tight pants, fishnet shirt… all in black or dark colours, but it also includes some differences in the form of modern colours and light reflecting components, you can also find some components not common in other gothic tendencies like gas masks or PVC doctor masks.

Finally they add some makeup in some colours hard to find in any other gothic tendency, specially red, blue, green or pink all in brilliant tones or UV tones.

Well let’s start with that we came to do…

As always you have the video tutorial at the start of the tutorial but ill write the instructions anyway and extract some photos just in case you want to print them.

We are going to start applying a white base in all over the eye.

Now we proceed to apply a green silver tone all over brow bone, nose bridge, and thin line on lid, then apply a UV green on top of that green silver layer, when you have done it, it should look something like this:

Next steep consist in applying white to the brow bone and blend it into green, then we apply black over green and blend it again, this is hard to do because if we apply just a little more black than what we should we will completely conceal green ruining the end result… so practice with time…

Now make a silver tone cat eye, in case you don’t know what exactly is that, we are going to raise a full makeup tutorial on gothic cat eyes any time soon but for now just check this photo.

Proceed by creating your own cyber design in black and outlining the cat eye, the best tool I have found for this kind of drawing its liquid eyeliner, I recommend you to use it.

Final steeps are to clean up the silver cat eye and add some details, add a little bit of glitter over silver to make it shine and fill brows, result should be something like this:

But we can’t leave it like this so lets do the lips:

Start by adding a little bit of silver eye shadow to your lips, then outline your lips in UV green blend in and add a bit of glitter, then you are free to create your own cyber design and draw it (liquid eyeliner is again the best for precision although since this area is larger you could use a black pencil and leave the liquid eyeliner for details).

That’s all you need, result should be something like this:

Things used:

Kryolan Aqua Colors
Black
White
UV-DG Green
Silver
Int.Silver Green
Ben Nye Cake Liner-Black
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil-Black

Hope you liked it!!

I've been looking for alternative ways to do Cybergoth makeup that will work with wearing glasses, and your method works perfectly! This has been totally helpful!
