It has been some time since we last talked about gothic makeup and added some tutorial so I have been talking a look over Internet for seeing what I could find… and well I found something… strange, I’m not even sure that it suits in this web site but no body will be able to say that we don’t have an open mind…
This is going to be delicious for all of you who are manga lovers (and I bet there are quite a few out there), I’m not even sure if this could have some practical applications (Halloween maybe? Not sure…) Anyway, the idea is as simple as create a makeup for seeming a gothic Lolita doll.
With some modifications i´m sure that you could use it for any manga convention (Cosplay) or as a porcelain doll.
Wonderful… Is one of the most original things I get across recently o I couldn’t help adding it to the Web.
The most curious thing is that it’s pretty easy to get this look, quite easier than other gothic makeup tutorials that we added in the past.
But lets get to it:
First steep is to apply a makeup foundation, the objective is to get a dolly appearance so the base should be at least 2 tones more pale than your own skin tone.
I bet that it’s possible to get the look of a porcelain doll by applying a pure white liquid base and some white powder.
Next we have to apply powders for getting a more mate tone over the skin and more important for getting a perfect skin without any irregularities.
Notice that she applied the base and the powder both over the eyebrows and the lips for concealing them.
Next steep is to draw the eyebrows using a much darker tone than any natural tone, for that we will use a black pencil, you shouldn’t be concerned on getting too big eyebrows, in deed the most exaggerated you do this the better the overall look.
At this point you should look something like this:
Next steep is to (if needed) use a wig, she chooses a blonde wig although I think that a black wig that would look like Emily straight hair would do much better… that’s up to you (or depending on availability)
Eye makeup is quite easier than most of the ones that we added to the web tutorials, basically it consists in applying a black eye shadow over the eyelid and just over the crease…
The ideas is that our eye looks dark and hollow, you shouldn’t have any problem applying the brown tone because the final idea is to make the eyes looks bigger than they already are.
The next video steep talks about a black eyeliner for painting the lower half of the eyelid, I think that she is not using an eyeliner but a wet cover color shadow, those shadows are used in theatre and they are characterized for having long lasting “pure color” tones.
Anyway the idea is to cover the eyelid with a black “BLACK” color, you can do it with a eyeliner but it will take longer.
After that you have to delineate the lover lid (but not the waterline) with the same black color, just as you would usually do but with a thicker line.
Next steep consists in applying a white (pure white) over the waterline, I do have that white pencil, so if you are interested in it or in a liquid white eyeliner let me know because I know where to get it.
We are almost done with the eyes, we are just missing the key steep that consists in adding fake eyelashes “like crazy” just where the black tone ends, both in the upper and in the lower lids.
The objective is to create the illusion that our eyes are much bigger than they really are, it doesn’t matter if you like this makeup or not this is a trick you should remember.
For getting the perfect illusion she adds some giant contact lenses that simulate a bigger Iris and we are done with the eyes.
The lips are easy to make too, with a red pencil we draw a smaller version of our own lips (a reduced version by the sides and both by the upper and lower sides).
Next we apply a black pencil over the red for giving it a more gothic look, and then we apply a red lipgloss, I think that it will look better if we applied a black pencil since the start and then a black lipgloss, but again this is up to you.
Next we apply a bit of concealer for hiding our real lips.
We are done with the makeup, now we just have the clothes issue, a gothic Lolita dress and a hat should be enough although that’s up to you again.
In the final result, your eyes should look much bigger than they already are (much bigger) as in any real doll.
And that’s all… As I said, I’m not even sure if this tutorial has any practical use but it’s at least surprising, let’s add it to the collection of tutorials… how to turn yourself into a gothic Lolita doll.
